Robert. J. MacNiven, beloved of counsel to Shamy, Shipers & Lonski, P.C. since 2006, has passed away on March 26, 2020. He will be missed by colleagues and friends, and the loss of Robert will be felt immensely.
Robert received a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University, and in 1972, he received his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law.
Robert served as a Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor from 1972 until 1977 during which he was a trial team leader, head of the gambling and narcotics task force, and prosecutor for the Grand Jury. Following his time as a Prosecutor, he joined and became a partner in a general practice in East Brunswick with an emphasis on family law and real estate law. In 2006, Mr. MacNiven joined Shamy, Shipers & Lonski, P.C., handling principally matrimonial law, other family matters, and real estate.
Mr. MacNiven served as an Early Settlement Panelist for the Middlesex County Family Court and was a New Jersey Superior Court Rule 140 Approved Family Mediator. He also served as a municipal prosecutor for two local municipalities.
Over the years, Mr. MacNiven had been Counsel for the St. Bart's Pop Warner Football Organization, served on the board of the Literacy Volunteers of Middlesex County, and served on the board for the Allentown Pop Warner Football Organization. He also had written numerous articles for a monthly local publication.
Mr. MacNiven was a proud member of the Middlesex County Bar Association.
